Scott began learning golf at the age of 12 in Westerly Rhode Island, graduating from high school in 1990 and from Mount Ida Academy at USF, Florida in 1992. His lowest score in Scott's PGA career was 62 with 2 Albatrosses! ! ! Scott started his golf teaching career in 1995 and worked as a team head coach at Darmouth, an Ivy League school. From 1998 to 2020, Scott assisted David Leadbetter to open up a number of colleges in Bolivia, Ecuador, and Paraguay in South America and was one of the founders. In 2004, Scott was specially invited as the chief coach of China National Golf Team. During Scott's teaching career, he has trained hundreds of professional golfers and well-known North American university players, among which professional players include: Carmen Bandea, Kymer Li, Brittany Benvenuto, Susana Benevides, Cyna Rodriguez, Bank Vongvanij, Molly Arronson, Christina Miller, Julieta Granada has won her first million-dollar LPGA prize. Scott's students have also won Sebastian Heisle European Tour Champion, Casey Whittenburg PGA Champion, Stuart Macdonald Kornferry and Symmetry among other professional champions.
